Birthdays are beautiful opportunities for deep reflections. For me, I usually start with some meditation, a moment that affords me the privilege of counting my blessings and taking stock of God’s goodness and mercies through the year.
This year, my core focus is gratitude. In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, it’s easy to forget to be grateful for the simple joys of life. According to Amy Collete, gratitude is a powerful catalyst for happiness.
Recently, I started sharing my story in a series titled The Metamorphosis of Felix. As I recall these stories with nostalgia, I remember where God has brought me from and this births new reasons for gratitude.
Today, I am grateful for God’s goodness towards me in the past year, his mercies over my family and his faithfulness towards my friends and associates. Truly, as the songwriter, Edith McNeill puts it, “The Steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end, they are new every morning, new every morning, great is his faithfulness.”
